The Allston DIY Fest has been inexplicably denied the permit to hold the event by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department. The event has been run without incident for the past three consecutive summers in Ringer Park in Allston, behind the Jackson Mann Community Center. The Allston DIY Fest is a family-friendly, multi-cultural music and arts festival that celebrates and reflects the diverse make up of the community. Apparently, another event was also scheduled to be held in Ringer Park this summer, and it too was denied permitting as well. Organizers have organized a petition drive to get Ringer Park opened back up for community use.
