80’s rock star Rick Springfield who topped the charts with “Don’t Talk to Strangers” and “Jessie’s Girl” will be performing alongside rock legend Pat Benatar at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion in July.
SD: What made you decide to take a break from your own tour to co-headline with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo?
RS: To be able to reach more people and it makes it more fun when you are sharing the stage with these two. Plus it always makes for a better show then performing by yourself.
SD: Do you have a favorite Pat Benatar song?
RS: I love all of her songs, but my favorite is “Run Between the Raindrops.” I have always been a fan of both Pat and Neil and to share this tour with them is a great honor personally and professionally.
SD: You have been touring for over 30 years, what keeps you motived to continue?
RS: I love playing guitar and connecting with the audience and my fans. I actually get a lot of work done on the road. Actually, I’ve all most completed the sequel to my novel, “Magnificent Vibration.” I don’t have a title for it yet, but I do have a few in mind.
SD: Your new book “Magnificent Vibration” was released last month. What inspired you to write another novel?
RS: My publisher loved the writing style and voice I used when writing my autobiography. As a kid, I always loved writing, and before I started writing songs I wanted to write novel.
SD: Out of all your talents, singing, writing, acting, do you have a favorite?
RS: It would have to be writing. The great thing about being able to write is that you don’t have to go anywhere, you can just sit and write. The written word is very powerful and hopefully like music, your words will inspire others.
**Rick will have a book signing & in-store performance on Monday, June 30th at 7pm at Barnes & Noble in Framingham. See his website for more information.
