Comedian and former co-host of “The View” Joy Behar is coming to the Wilbur Theatre.
SD: When did you realize that you were funny enough to become a stand-up comedienne?
JB: It’s complicated. How long do you have? Some people are funny their entire lives. You start being funny in grade school, but to make the transition to being a stand-up comedienne is a big jump. For me, I took the jump at age 35. It’s like being thrown in the ocean and not knowing how to swim.
SD: Who would you say you inherited your comedic chops from?
JB: I would say my father or maybe I got my funny bone from my dead grandmother who I never met. I was always encouraged to chase my dreams whatever they may be.
SD: How has life been for you since leaving “The View?”
JB: Relaxing! I never thought that I would not miss going to work every day. It took me about a year to get used to doing nothing. It’s been nice waking up when I want. I don’t have to put on any make- up and I don’t have to watch the news with an eagle’s eye.
SD: Was there anything that Barbara Walters taught you that you didn’t already know?
JB: If you want to get a jump on your competitors, don’t stop to pee.
SD: What can your fans expect to see/hear at your show?
JB: They can expect me see me and as for what you will hear – You will see when you get there.
