Discover Maya: Hidden Worlds Revealed at the Museum of Science.
Maya is the largest exhibition of its kind in the United States and invites you to uncover the rise and decline of this majestic civilization.
Before you enter into the ancient world of the Mayans, there is a short film about the history and mythology of the Mayan people. The film features information on the symbolism of their gods, culture, and their lives.
The exhibit is relatively light on authentic artifacts. Most of the structures are replicas made with more detail than you would be able to see on any decaying originals. What the MOS does do nicely is provide a sense of what the Mayans daily lives may have been like.
As you walk the exhibit, you will learn about Mayan religion, astronomy, warfare, and how they played their ball games.
There are lots of opportunities for kids to explore the interactive and engaging displays – videos, hands-on activities, and keepsake printable.
Come visit one of the most complex and advanced civilizations of the ancient world before it disappears.
