SD: What is making this the right time for a reunion?
Jacob: We are all finally in the same place at the same time. This has been something we have wanted to do for our fans for a long time, so we decided it was now or never.
SD: What are the differences between O-Town today vs. O-Town from “Making the Band?”
Erik: We have all evolved professionally and personally over the last 10 years. When we started out, we were young and eager and ready to change the music. We have the ability to bring a new approach and experiences to our music.
SD: What’s the reaction generally been to the new music? Has it been as good as you were hoping for?
Erik: I can honest say that I have never received as much encouragement and reaction to this new album as before.
Trevor: This is an album that I am literally listening to. We may not sell a lot, but I am very happy with how it turned out. We are receiving great reviews.
SD: “Skydive,” your new single, is a pretty powerful and moving song. Do you think that emotions come from growing up over these last 10 years?
Dan: The original version was big. Jacob reproduced the track and made it our sound. He was really able to capture the emotion of the song. When I listen to us from 10 years ago, we sound like babies. We have really grown.
SD: As a boy band, what makes you stand out from the rest?
Jacob: We are not trying to capitalize on the past. We are just trying to create a new future. The past is the past and we have all moved on from there. This new album is really the first opportunity to do it our way.
