I recently had a phone interview with Grammy-nominated country singer/songwriter Martina McBride for her upcoming show at the Lynn Auditorium.
SD: Your debut cooking/entertaining book, “Around the Table” was just recently released. Do you have a favorite dish to prepare?
MM: Chicken and Sausage Gumbo! I love making it. It is the perfect meal for rainy days, Christmas Eve, birthdays, and any special occasions. It is also one of my family’s favorite meals.
SD: Your new album, Everlasting, is cover songs. How did you decide which songs to record?
MM: It was a long process. It took about 7 months. I choose songs that I felt would be fun to do and would fit my vocal range. Plus, I really wanted to do something fun for my fans.
SD: Having been in the industry for over 20 years, is there anything you wish you could change about your career?
MM: No, not at all. I was able to have a family and career. It has really been everything I wanted and dreamed of. I thank my fans for always supporting me with my dream.
SD: You are often sought out to perform duets. Is there anyone you would love to sing with?
MM: I have been lucky to sing with a lot of music greats, but if I could choose right now, it would be Bruno Mars and Michael Bublé. They are both very talented entertainers.
SD: With the holiday season fast approaching, are you a Thanksgiving or Christmas girl?
MM: Christmas, definitely. I do love the fall, but Christmas is magical!
